The Giroptic 360cam lacks the multitude of mounts and cases available with Kodak's camera, so you won't be able to take it scuba diving, for instance. But its standard tripod mount lets you connect it to pretty much any GoPro accessory.
Test footage from the first run Kickstarter developer prototype 360cam 360 degree waterproof HD camera from GiropticAs you can see, the quality isn't that great, and the audio is terrible, this came directly out of the camera. Not sure if it's a PEBKAC or a genuine issue. But it is a first run developer prototype.
One common theme with all of these 360 cameras is the weak battery life, generally 2 hours max. The saving grace for the Giroptic 360cam is that it uses replaceable batteries that look and feel to be GoPro Hero 3 series batteries, though no one could really confirm if they were interchangeable.
Just recently we acquired the Giroptic 360cam to explore the potential of 360 cameras and how they might be used in HE to help enhance the student learning experience. Even within the first week of getting to grips with the camera we had already identified many possibilities in which it could impact and enhance teaching and learning within the institution (covered further on in this post).
Well, 360 cameras allow you to capture a 4k photo and/or video in a spherical format where a view in every direction is recorded at the same time, shot using an omnidirectional camera or a collection of cameras. During playback the viewer has control of the viewing direction like a panorama, a form of virtual reality. There are a growing number of 360 degree cameras on the market today, here within the LTD team we have the Giroptic 360cam (shown below). 781b155fdc
